'Seize the MomeNT’ photography competition winner announced21/01/2011

The winners of the ‘Seize the MomeNT’ photography competition, launched in association with Tourism Northern Territory, National Geographic camera bags and netflights.com, have been announced.

The overall winner is ePHOTOzine member Michelle Sutton whose entry (pictured top), titled 'That’s another fine mess you got us into Stanley!' brilliantly captured the scene when the 4WD she and her husband were traveling in broke down on a tour across the stunning salt flats of Bolivia.

Michelle Sutton, 34 from London, scooped the top prize of a trip for two to Australia’s adventure laden outback, plus a National Geographic Walkabout bag. She will be jetting off to the vibrant city of Darwin to explore dual World Heritage Listed Kakadu National Park before travelling to the contrasting Red Centre where iconic wonders such as Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) will provide endless material to capture. She may be avoiding 4WD adventures this time though!

A keen photographer, Michelle captured the image on her Canon compact. Winning the prize brought a wonderful end to what was clearly a bad day! This will be her first trip to Australia.

The judges were impressed by the uniqueness of the shot. Commenting on the winning image, Fleur Burrows of Tourism Northern Territory said “It was a unanimous decision. The image really stood out from the crowd for the story it told, its spirit of adventure and photographic quality”.

“We look forward to welcoming Michelle and her husband Mark to the Territory for what will be the trip of a lifetime. The Territory is a natural choice for photographers with dramatic skies, striking colours and breathtaking landscapes” added Burrows.

And that’s not all – 20 runners up received stylish National Geographic Walkabout Bags, with a further 300 entrants winning National Geographic Earth Explorer Travel Logs!

“Michelle captured the spirit of adventure that lies at the heart of National Geographic Walkabout Bags and was a worthy winner,” said Kevin Price, web marketing manager for Manfrotto Distribution UK.
